For most of the last decade, Spring Lake's summer identity was built on what it refused to be. No neon boardwalk. No amplified bar strip. A downtown that closed early enough that dinner at 8:45 felt aggressive. That is the version residents chose, and it is the version the town has protected. Summer 2026 does not undo it. Summer 2026 rearranges it.
Three things happen at once this year. A restaurant with real ambitions takes over the old bank on the corner of 3rd and Morris. The borough closes 3rd Avenue to cars on four consecutive Wednesday evenings. And the America's 250th calendar drops a set of dated, one-off civic events on top of the usual programming. Any one of these would be a normal seasonal update. Stacked together, they change what a Tuesday-through-Sunday week actually looks like for someone whose house is three blocks off the lake.
